The Magic of Giving Back During the Holidays at The Parkside Hotel & Spa
Here at The Parkside Hotel & Spa, we are committed to making a positive impact. From consistently upgrading our sustainability initiatives to being active members in our Victoria, BC community, our mission is to operate with intention, innovation, inclusivity and warmth.
To ensure we achieve this goal, we closely align our actions with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These 17 goals create a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future. They recognize that ending poverty goes hand-in-hand with strategies that improve health and education, reduce inequality and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.
Though we follow these SDGs throughout the year, we always enjoy bringing in the greater community during the holiday season to support these initiatives. In past years, we proudly hosted the Annual Gingerbread Showcase in support of Habitat for Humanity. Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to provide affordable housing for all—a goal supported by the SDGs ‘no poverty’ and ‘good health and well-being’. Community members visited our atrium to view impressive gingerbread sculptures and donate to vote for their favourite design, with all proceeds going to Habitat for Humanity.
This holiday season, we’re delighted to introduce a new way to give back—The Parkside Express - Festive Tracks of Giving. From November 18th to January 6th, our atrium will provide a heartwarming journey through nostalgia with a model holiday train, nestled among vibrant poinsettias and festive lighting—a scene that captures the true essence of the season.
The heart of this event is about spreading goodwill and holiday cheer in support of Rainbow Kitchen, a hub for food security programming in Victoria, providing free hot meals and facilitating food sharing to anyone in need. This goal will directly impact the SDGs ‘zero hunger’ and ‘good health and well-being.’
Donate to this important cause with convenient tap-to-donate stations throughout the experience to help the giving spirit of the season. Additionally, bring a keepsake home with a Christmas 'Believe' bell ornament available for purchase with further proceeds directly supporting Rainbow Kitchen's programs.
