This is DRIFT, a floating sound meditation at The Parkside Hotel & Spa. Created for both locals and hotel guests, it’s a quietly immersive wellness experience that mirrors the slower, restorative rhythms of Victoria.
More than an event, DRIFT is a full-sensory journey. Here’s how to experience it.
Your DRIFT Itinerary 
Arrival: Transition into Calm
Your experience begins before you even reach the water.
Plan to arrive 20-30 minutes early, entering through the main doors of The Parkside Hotel & Spa. As you move through the atrium, you’ll pass the koi pond, an early signal to slow your pace before making your way toward the spa.
Check-in takes place at the recreation desk beside the pool, where the DRIFT team will guide you through your next steps. From there, you’ll have time to change into something comfortable (or swimwear), settle in, and slip into a plush robe designed for comfort and warmth, adding to the sense of quiet retreat.
Arriving early is essential. Doors are locked five minutes prior to the start time to preserve the stillness of the space, and late arrivals cannot be accommodated or refunded.
If you’re driving in, street parking is available along Humboldt Street, or you can access complimentary underground parking by speaking to a guest services agent.
The Experience: Floating Sound Meditation
At the start time, the space settles.
You’ll be gently guided onto a floating mattress, supported by warm water and dim light. As you drift, the room fills with the resonant tones of crystal alchemy bowls and the grounding vibration of a gong, layered with guided meditation by professional sound therapy practitioner, Pilar Munoz.
There’s nothing to achieve here. No expectation to “do it right”. Whether this is your first meditation or part of a long-standing practice, you’re simply invited to arrive as you are. The water supports you; the sound carries you, and the experience unfolds naturally, with gentle guidance and assistance close by.

Reawakening: Returning Slowly
After an hour, the experience begins to shift.
You’ll be gently guided through reawakening, assisted off your float, and given space to reorient. There’s no rush, but there is a natural close. Within about 15 minutes, you’ll gather your belongings and transition into the quiet serenity of your day or evening.
Extending the Experience
DRIFT can be a stand-alone experience or part of something more.
For locals, it’s a reset in the midst of your week. A way to pause without leaving the city.
For guests staying at The Parkside Hotel & Spa, it becomes part of a larger wellness escape. Pair it with a spa treatment, a quiet morning in the atrium, or a slow walk through downtown Victoria. It’s this all-day experience that defines the city’s approach to wellness: unhurried, intentional, and deeply restorative.

With limited capacity and an intentionally intimate setting, booking 2 weeks in advance is recommended.
DRIFT is offered weekly on Thursday evenings at 8:30pm, and monthly on select Sunday Mornings at 7:30am. Availability is subject to change.

Drift | A Floating Sound Meditation FAQ
What time should I arrive to Drift?
Check in begins 30 minutes before the event starts at the recreation desk next to the pool. Please arrive no later than 10 minutes before the event. Our Drift attendants will show you where to go. Doors will be locked 5 minutes before the event begins, and late arrivals are not permitted.
What should I wear?
You can wear light, comfortable clothing or a bathing suit. We will provide you with a robe as well. You may feel a little splash, but we will do our best to help you in carefully to stay dry.
How long can I stay afterwards?
After reawakening from the meditation, we will be reopening our pool to hotel guests at 8:30am and closing the pool at 10:15pm, so we ask that you take about 15 minutes to exit pool and gather belongings.
Where do I park?
There is street parking available on Humboldt and surrounding streets. You are also welcome to park underground complimentary, please see the front desk for a parking pass.
What's the age requirement?
Minimum age to participate is 19.
Can I swim after?
No, we will be opening the pool up to our regular guests, and will need the area to be vacant so we can move the instruments out carefully.
Is there any fitness requirements?
No! Anyone can join! We just need you to be comfortable getting on and off an air mattress (plus, we'll be there to assist!).
