Arbutus Ridge

This award-winning 18-hole course has been offering duffers a fantastic day out for more than 30 years. Designed from the fairways up to offer golfers some of the most breathtaking views in British Columbia, Arbutus Ridge is as stunning to take in as it is enjoyable to play. When you also consider the ocean views from the on-site Satellite Bar & Grill and full practice facility here, it’s not hard to see why Golf Digest gave this course a four-star rating.

Cedar Hill

Located just minutes from downtown, the 18-hole, par 67 Cedar Hill’s sweeping views of Victoria and the surrounding mountains have drawn players just as much as the course itself. Because of this, it’s one of BC’s busiest public courses — so arranging a tee time in advance is highly recommended. The grounds also feature an events and banquet facility, available instruction from resident pros, a young golfer’s program, and a well-appointed clubhouse.

Cordova Bay Golf 

The exceedingly walkable, beautiful to behold 18-hole championship course at Cordova Bay is so balanced, it’s served as the staging ground for several provincial and national championship tournaments. After you sink your last putt, don’t forget to stop into Bill Mattick’s Restaurant for everything from light salads and sandwiches to hearty entrées. Need to sneak in a quick few holes? Cordova Bay also offers a satisfying 9-hole ridge course for a quick fix.

Olympic View Golf

Widely known for its quiet serenity and panoramic mountain views, Olympic View is a must-play. Rolling fairways and manicured greens will have golfers walking adjacent to lush, preserve-like areas where wildlife sightings are a more-common-than-not occurrence. Thanks to its location at the southern tip of Vancouver Island, the area’s mild winter conditions even offer golfers year-round play. Highland Pacific Golf

Billing itself as “Victoria’s friendliest golf course”, Highland Pacific has more than earned its honorary appellation. The welcoming staff, well-stocked pro shop, practice area and all-day café present a pretty irresistible package. In addition to its playfully landscaped 18-holes, this course affords players gorgeous vistas of the nearby mountains, downtown, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Budget more than your usual time just to drink in the scenery.

Victoria Golf Club  

First opened in 1895, the venerable Victoria Golf Club is the oldest 18-hole course in Canada, and easily one of its most picturesque. Legends have played here, and it’s not difficult to see why. Sweeping fairways give way to cushion-soft greens, all laid seamlessly along a property that hugs the southeastern edge of Vancouver Island along Mayor Channel. Be sure to raise a glass to a game well played at Macan’s Pub once you finish filling out your scorecard.
