Victoria, British Columbia (September 6, 2013) – The Parkside Hotel & Spa, one of the leading hotels in Victoria, has welcomed Trina White as their new general manager. She will be responsible for overseeing the hotel’s overall operating performance and ensuring they get better financial returns while completely satisfying guests. She will also plan and direct the operations of all departments and work with homeowner groups.
Ms. White is a prominent figure in hotel and tourism. She directed the operations of several hotels in British Columbia prior to her employment at Parkside. She also served as a board member of the Shawigan Lake Parks & Recreation Commission for seven years before serving as its director. Moreover, she has acted as ambassador of the Greater Victoria Chamber of Commerce and as board member of Victoria AM and the Vancouver Island Meeting Planners and Suppliers.
Under her leadership, Parkside is expected to introduce more improvements not just for guests but also for the surrounding community. This won’t be an easy task, considering that they are already renowned for running a green building that attracts many tourists and gives a sense of pride to locals.
The hotel is built to LEED® Platinum standards and features eco-friendly amenities, like the glass louvres that are installed on the building exterior. Aside from creating a stunning impression, the louvres block the sun’s rays to keep the hotel cool and reduce overall energy consumption. Rooftop gardens, lush with beautiful and diverse plants, also insulate the building against the winter cold and summer heat. Additionally, the parking spaces have charging stations for electric vehicles, a feature that is the first of its kind in Canada.
Because of these eco-friendly conveniences, Parkside has earned many awards and recognitions from different organizations. They are a recipient of the Five Green Key eco rating and the 2010 Energy & Environment Award from the Hotel Association of Canada. The Canadian Home Builders Association also honoured them in 2010 with the Outdoor Environmental Achievement award.
The hotel also features a 25-meter indoor pool, designer furnishings, gourmet kitchens, and cozy guest rooms. Though these differ in size, all feature floor-to-ceiling operable windows and furnished balconies. There are also suites that provide a nice view of downtown Victoria, the Olympic Mountains, and the city skyline.
