Floorplans & Features : Green Building

Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa is on target to become the World's first Platinum-rated LEED Resort-Hotel, and set the pace for green building in Canada.

The Pearsons, owners of Aviawest, have a long history of sustainable development practices. It started back to the early 90's, with our flagship property, Pacific Shores Resort & Spa.

Parkside will ensure that its energy-consuming systems are designed, built, and operating at peak efficiency through a process called commissioning, and water throughout the resort will be conserved by use of zero potable water use for irrigation, and water-efficient plumbing fixtures.

Aviawest also plans on working with a green power supplier to provide at least 50% of the required energy to run Parkside. Green power means renewable energy sources, and is simply one of the many initiatives we are proud to be engaged in.

We are really pleased to see the LEED program catching on so well, as it means more developers will be joining us in building a green and sustainable future.

Platinum LEED

LEED is Leadership in Energy and Efficient Design, and is a third party credibility and verification process for green building.

The CaGBC, or Canadian Green Building Council, holds the license for LEED certification in Canada. Each developer choosing to "go green" can achieve compliance by earing points through LEED recognized green building initiatives.

Compliance is awarded through a tiered system of Certified, Silver, Gold, or Platinum LEED status. Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa is on target for 54 of the available 70 points, where only 52 are required to meet Platinum level.
