Recent press for Parkside: Elton's flowers, spa getaways & more
Parkside has been all over the news recently!
On February 16, 2011, Parkside was mentioned as one of the best places to go for a DIY spa getaway in Vancouver's Georgia Straight.
"With a heated tile floor, a shower, and a stand-alone soaker tub, this bathroom is pure bliss. Suites feature an electric fireplace, so once you pluck yourself out of the tub, you can relax with a glass of wine in the living room. A full kitchen means you never have to face the outside world until you check out; bringing your own food saves money too, " writes Carolyn Ali.
On February 22, 2011, The Canadian Tourism Commission published a story for their media centre about Parkside's quest for LEED Platinum Certification: Green resort goes for Platinum.
And finally, on February 26, 2011, the Times Colonist published this great feature in the Homes section about the floral arrangements created especially for Elton John during his stay at Parkside on February 14th: Flower's for Elton: What a Gig!
"The lobby of the Parkside was worthy of any five-star hotel.
A huge arrangement of blood red anthuriums and tulips set against towering bamboo took the eye by the main entry.
A very large bowl of purple phalaenopsis orchids on the concierge desk drew you into the lobby, and the final arrangement of orchids behind the reception desk created the feeling that you were checking into an exclusive spa.
The floor that John stayed on, freshly painted for the occasion, boasted huge, abundant Pink Lady rose, tulip and willow arrangements twinned into two rustic urns. These were artfully set on a credenza with a mirror behind so the impact was very much over the top," writes Susan Ramsey.
The suite also featured beautiful paintings by local artist Erica Messing.
And, in case you were wondering, we were informed by Sir Elton's personal assistant that he very much enjoyed his stay at Parkside!
