Parkside receives national environmental award
Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa has been awarded the Energy & Environment Award from the Hotel Association of Canada.
The award, which was one of only four presented at the prestigious 2010 Hall of Fame Awards for Excellence in Toronto on March 7, 2011, recognizes Canadian lodging properties that have developed a culture towards integrating environmental management practices that improve everyday operations and the bottom line, while maintaining quality service and meeting guest expectations.
“Care for the environment has been a core value for Aviawest since the early 1990's, simply because it's the right thing to do,” said Parkside's developer, Avaiwest Resort Group CEO Jim Pearson. “It's satisfying to see those commitments recognized by industry peers and national organizations."
Parkside is a sustainable resort leading Canada in innovative green resort hotel development and design built to LEED® Platinum Certification Standards, the highest rating. Parkside was recently awarded a 5 Green Key rating with the Green Key Global Eco-Rating Program, a rating system designed to recognize the commitment of hotels, motels and resorts to improving their environmental performance.
