Ryder Hesjedal Homecoming Event at Parkside
Come and join us in welcoming home professional cyclist Ryder Hesjedal from his phenomenal seventh place overall finish at the 2010 Tour de France, the best showing from a Canadian in 22 years.
Ryder Hesjedal's Homecoming Event will be held at Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa on Saturday, September 4, 2010 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
Meet Ryder, celebrate his impressive placing and help support his latest project, "Wheelmen Ride Bicycles", an initiative designed to help support the development of young, competitive cyclists in Canada.
Commemorative "Tourmalet T-shirts" signed by Ryder will be available for purchase.
T-shirts for this event are $50.00, with 50% of the sale proceeds going to the "Wheelman Ride Bicycles" initiative.
In addition, the Aviawest Cycling Society will have a special presentation for two local cyclists, Annie Ewart and Craig Logan, who represented Canada at the World Junior Cycling Championships in Offida, Italy earlier in August.
More about Ryder's new initiative from Wheelmen.ca:Wheelmen Ride Bicycles is an initiative with a mission to help support the development of young male and female competitive cyclists in Canada.
Five dollars from every purchase you make in store or at Wheelmen.ca will go directly to the young athletes, providing opportunities to excel in sport and inspire healthy lifestyles for all Canadians.
“Wheelmen Ride Bicycles” was inspired by Canadian Olympian and Tour de France veteran, Ryder Hesjedal – inspiration to work harder, to support others, to keep focused on your goals and not to underestimate what can be achieved through life’s simple practices.
To the youth, he’s a solid example that a lot can be accomplished when you keep the pedals turning.
“Having the opportunity to give back and support young athletes so that they have the same opportunities I had is important to me," says Ryder.
"Every little bit helps, and now everyone can have the opportunity to chip in a little bit themselves. I’m proof that the support given today leads to success tomorrow."
