Living Planet Community tips - only 2 more days to enter!
For our July contest, we're asking our Living Planet Community what they do to help conserve our environment.
Check out what Parkside Living Planet Community group member Ty on the Island is doing to help conserve our planet:
"Since 1989, my wife and I have been fortunate enough to both work and live together; this allows for us to use only one vehicle, and, in turn, vastly reduces our carbon footprint.
We are also fortunate enough to live here in the CRD where we have access to terrific recycling services, and as such we find that we have less than one green garbage bag of garbage every two weeks.
When the weekend rolls around, we often leave our vehicle parked at home and take advantage of Victoria's beauty and fantastic weather by putting our running shoes on and doing our errands on foot.
When we go out for a walk, we make a point to pick up some of the trash that others have littered our fine city with.
There are trash cans throughout the city (often at or near bus stops), so I don't understand why people still choose to throw their garbage out of their car windows or carelessly drop it as they walk down the sidewalk.
We live in a beautiful city and to all those reading this post that do their part to help keep to as such - thank you."
