Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa's Grand Opening a Success

Victoria, BC – Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa, the first resort hotel of its kind in Canada built to LEED® Platinum Certification standards, commemorated its official launch on Friday June 25, 2010.

Parkside's grand opening kicked off with a champagne sabreing by Pacific Shores Resort & Spa's Director of Food & Beverage and Sommelier, Atilla Cimsit. Following the sabreing, guests and visitors sampled wine and appetizers from local exhibitors including The Landing West Coast Grill, Truffles Catering and Caffe Fantastico.

The Rockland lobby featured the Green Zone highlighting local eco-conscious businesses such as reFUSE and Ecoeverything. The atrium held a live band and provided a meeting point for green building tours throughout the day.

In the evening, Andrew Pearson, President of Aviawest Resort Group; Richard Hulbert, Principal Planner and Architect at The Hulbert Group; Gordon Gurnick, President of RCI North America; Alan Lowe, former Mayor of Victoria; and David Anderson, former Environment Minister and current Member of Parliament were on hand to participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony inaugurating the opening of Parkside Victoria Resort & Spa.

The invitation-only Gala reception in the atrium completed Parkside's Grand Opening. Guests mingled and danced while enjoying locally-sourced appetizers, wine and champagne. Over the course of the grand opening events, the Victoria Times Colonist, Shaw TV Victoria, Douglas Magazine, SNAP Victoria, Design Quarterly Magazine, Outdoors Northwest Magazine, Vancouver Courier, Vancouver Observer, Common Ground Magazine and Vista Magazine covered the celebration.
